Emergency Panic Button

One tap sends your location and alerts your emergency contacts

Safety is a fundamental concern for immigrant families. Whether it's a medical emergency, a natural disaster, a car accident, or an encounter with law enforcement, knowing that your family can reach you — and that you can call for help instantly — provides a critical layer of protection. The Panic Button is always visible in the app's sidebar. One tap, and it sends your GPS location via SMS to every emergency contact you've designated, along with a pre-written alert message.

Here's how it works in practice: You're driving home from work and witness an accident. You tap the panic button. Within seconds, your spouse receives a text message with your exact GPS coordinates and a message saying you've activated an emergency alert. They can immediately see where you are on a map and call you or send help. No fumbling with phone numbers, no trying to describe your location — the app handles everything in one tap.

For families with members who work late shifts, travel for work, or live in unfamiliar areas, the panic button provides peace of mind that goes beyond what a regular phone call can offer. A phone call requires you to be able to speak, describe your location, and explain what's happening. The panic button works even if you can only tap your screen once. It sends your location automatically using your phone's GPS, and Twilio delivers the SMS instantly to all your emergency contacts.

The feature is especially meaningful for immigrant families who may feel vulnerable in certain situations. Knowing that one tap can alert your family, your attorney, or a trusted community member — with your exact location — creates a safety net that didn't exist before. You configure your emergency contacts in the Settings page, and the panic button is always there when you need it. It works with or without a data connection (SMS only requires cell service), making it reliable in almost any situation.
